HOW WE PREPARE OUR PRODUCTS

We deep-freeze, package and
process bearing an important
watchword in our mind: reducing our impact.

Deep-frozen or frozen

People often use the words “deep-frozen” and “frozen” as if they
were synonyms. Actually, they are very different. Let’s make it clear:
in a few words we could say that at Orogel we deep-freeze,
while at home people freeze.

Packaging

After being deep-frozen, the products
are packed into those bags that
we can all find on store shelves.

The packaging of our products is totally suitable for recycling.
In order to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging
to a minimum, we make constant efforts to reduce the use of
materials as much as possible, and we design
them so that they are easy to recycle.
Besides, we keep on looking at the future, always paying attention to the evolution of materials
in order to offer the best possible solution to consumers and the environment.

Our packaging materials are mainly plastic- or paper-based and they can be grouped into three major categories:

Storage

The vegetables, packed into bags
or boxes, are stored at a temperature
of -25°C.

Storage cells, despite their large size which may induce to think
they are a major source of energy consumption, they are instead very efficient:
they behave as if they were a very full house fridge, well insulated and which
gets open very rarely. In the unlikely case of a blackout, the cells are designed
to guarantee that the right temperature will keep the product deep-frozen for at least two days.
